As summer turns to fall, we’re restoring our connection with the earth and our community with an easy seasonal recipe. Perfect for snacking, well, pretty much any time of day, our Cinnamon Apple Chips skip the single-use packaging and are guaranteed to be just as addictive as your go-to flavour.
With a short ingredient list, this recipe prompts us to embrace the change of season while also supporting local farmers. These practices lead to better soil quality and more nutritious, better-tasting produce.
So grab a reusable container, head to the orchard or market and grab the main ingredient for this simple branch-to-bowl recipe.
Cinnamon Apple Chips
- 2 medium apples
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup maple syrup
Preheat oven to 200F.
Wash and core apples.
Slice apples as thinly as possible (roughly ⅛ inch slices) with a sharp knife or mandolin.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place apple slices on top.
Mix cinnamon and maple syrup together.
Coat apple slices on both sides with the mixture using a cooking brush or spoon.
Cook in the oven for roughly 2 hours. This time can vary depending on the thickness of your slices, so check often. Flip slices every half hour.
Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for half an hour.
