Summer is reaching its peak here in Vancouver as we brace ourselves for yet another heatwave. If it’s anything like the last one, we’re talking three fans on you, your feet in a kiddy pool, and you’re still burning up. But despite the soon-to-be scorching temperature and the high likelihood of looking like a hot mess, we must say our tentree team has never looked cooler.
Read on to get our team’s favourite looks for summer, plus some styling tips when it comes to getting your wardrobe ready for the warm weather.
Alyssa, Logistics & Operations Coordinator
“I love this style of outfit (cropped top & high waisted women’s joggers), as I’m always on the go. I like to transform my day look into a night look with minimal effort. Both items are easily interchangeable.
Cropped tanks and tees are a staple in my summer wardrobe. They pair perfectly with everything high-waisted and are easy to dress up/down. I love my tentree fitted crop. It’s a great alternative to fast fashion brands: instyle, sustainable and ultra-versatile. The Colwood Joggers are my every occasion pants. They are great for going into the office, walking the Vancouver seawall, or a little more dressed up for a hot date. The material is lightweight, soft, and ultra-breathable. Plus, I’m obsessed with the colour.”

Accessorize
“For daytime looks in the summer, I’ll be sure to pair my outfit with equally cute sunnies or/and the tentree Harlow Boater Hat which is great for patio drinks, park picnics, or reading a book at the beach. If I’m having a more adventure-filled day, I’ll often rock my crop with bike shorts or cute high-waisted denim and be sure to add a cute ball cap. From day to night, I’ll throw on some wedges, maybe a silk scarf or gold hoop earrings. And if I’m feeling extra fiery, a lace tank top or bralette.”

“For me, a summer outfit is all about staying comfortable in the heat. I like to wear a baggier tee to create some airflow and to keep the fabric from clinging to my skin. Shorts need to be lightweight and comfy.
I love the simple chest hit of the Tree Man T and the fact that a minimal white tee can get paired with just about anything. I sized up to an XL in this one for a slightly baggier fit and paired this with the Joshua Hemp Shorts. These are the most lightweight and breathable shorts I own. Hemp is my favourite summer fabric because it keeps you cool and wicks moisture away if you start to sweat.”

Keep It Simple
“My summer style tip: keep things simple. Have a wardrobe with good staples so that you can mix and match most of your closet without putting much thought into it. What you’ll need: a couple pairs of clean and simple sneakers, a good pair of light denim/comfy shorts, and some basic tees. These items will make it stress-free to get ready for work all summer, and if you want to throw in a more colourful pair of sneakers or a hat, the rest of your outfit is ready to back them up.”
Grace, Loyalty Marketing Specialist
“I would say the scoop neck is the perfect tee. It’s super soft, and a bit stretchy, and the texture of the rib adds some interest to make it feel less like a plain black tee. The fit is loose without feeling sloppy and has a nice drape: perfect for french tucking into any bottom. While I’m a sucker for cutoffs, I love that the OffShore Shorts aren’t denim. The linen fabric is lightweight and soft, which makes them really comfy, yet elevated. I also love the high waisted fit. I’ll be wearing these everywhere; to work, over a bathing suit to the beach, out for drinks, or chilling on my balcony.”
Grace’s Summer Style Tip
Prioritize Comfort and Versatility
“I’ve got two rules for summer outfits: ABC (Always Be Comfy) and VIK (Versatility Is King). Always be comfy kind of speaks for itself… why would anyone choose to be uncomfortable? If comfort can be achieved, I will make it happen. My outfits are anchored by comfort, but I still like to look put together.
The second rule – Versatility Is King – is something I think about when adding anything to my wardrobe, but especially summer items. Living in Vancouver, we only have two months of hot weather, and that’s if we’re lucky. Stocking up on a bunch of hot weather styles means I only get to wear those cuties a couple times a year. Instead, I try to pick versatile pieces for the summer that can easily be layered and mixed with the rest of my wardrobe for wear year-round. The second part of versatility for me is having items that can do it all. I like pieces that can be worn on many occasions: on the couch, to work, to the beach, on a bike ride, and out to dinner.”
