This Tribe In Nevada Shut Down A Coal Plant And Replaced It With Solar

There are a variety of people who are trying to risk themselves and their liberties in order to save the very planet that they live on.

There are a variety of people who are trying to risk themselves and their liberties in order to save the very planet that they live on.

These human beings do their absolute best when it comes defending what they believe in. One of the many environmental crises involves The Moapa Band of Paiutes that are located in Nevada.

This tribe of people have the misfortune of also being the neighbor of the Reid Gardner Generating Station, which just so happens to be coal-powered.

While certain politicians believe that coal is still a viable option for energy for the planet, that is where they are wrong. The negative effects that come from being so close to a toxic place such as a coal-powered station in Nevada.

The Moapa Band of Paiutes began their protest against the coal plant. After years of dedication to their campaign they are able to witness the closure of something that not only saves them, but the rest of the world from the impact that coal has on the environment.

This is the first utility-scale solar plant ever placed on tribal territory. Their first attempt was in 2013 when they lost it but then in the same year had the Senate Bill 123 become law.

This required certain utilities in order to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions from coal-powered plant by replacing them renewable sources. This year, last month is when the Reid Gardner Generating Station shutdown for good since it became the outdated form of energy for the world.

The 40 employees were also able to maintain their jobs since it was by the same company. Even though the coal-powered plant had been one of the many primary sources of energy for Las Vegas, it is safe to say that this will be a major upgrade for the city as well.

In fact, many of the individuals that live in Las Vegas made it their own battle once they learned where their power was actually coming from and what it was doing to the neighboring tribe.

This is why it is important to stand up for what you truly believe in. We must fight for the world that we love so much and for the people that are suffering from the problems that humans are able to control.

Continue to fight just as The Moapa Band of Paiutes demonstrate that being ruthless is key to a renewable world.
